In small groups, consider the 4 images above by Jeff Wall.
- What types of photographs are these? (You might consider genres such as Photojournalism, Street Photography, Still-Life, Snapshot, Candid, Abstract)
- Which (if any) seem obviously staged? And if so, why? What are the clues that suggest these might be 'constructed' images?
- Why might the artist want to mislead the viewer (but perhaps not fully)?
- Do any/all of the images leave you with questions or wanting further information?
- What role do the titles of the photographs play in shaping your understanding?
- Do some/all of the images have a similar style?
These types of photographs are photo journalism also they are all staged,
an imagine thats obviously dtaged is bottom left and the clues are light bulbs as there are a unreasonable amount,
the writer would want to misled the viewer,
no questions but i want to know for information for bottom right
hey play no roles in my understanding.
they all do have the similar style all staged.

Do you think that these images reflect an area or a place?
- Do these images go together to form a sequence of images?
- What do you think that these images represent?
- What do you think that they 'say' as a community?
some of these images relect an place of struggle and they all look like something is going on which doesnt look happy, these images form a sequence of images that look like they were in a bad place these say as a community that they are in tough times.

- Write about why you choose these images. Are there similarities within the images?
- What are the differences with the images?
- What can you say about the colour within the shopfronts?
- Can photographing a series of shops document what may be happening within a community? Give reasons for your answers?
- What was the photographer trying to document with these images?
- How do these images make you feel?
- What would you like to ask the photographer about these images?
i chose these pictures because they all have the simmilarity that they are closed and all look like they have taken in a specific community as some have similar graffiti on there, the difference in the pictures are that they all different types of shops. the colours of the shop are very bold and bright in the community it looks like alot of chilhood shops are closing as some look locked up and have graffiti on them, the photographer trying to document how maybe violence may be increasing in the community these images make me feel weird feeling that i cant explain i would like to ask the photgrapher what inspired her to photograph this.
Take a series of at least 12 images of various shopfronts near where you live. You can chose which shopfronts they are and they can be all different. Think about how you take the images and how they will look as a series of images:
- Are the shopfronts in a row?
- Will you photograph the same type of shop, for example a group of newsagents?
- How will you frame the images? Will you take them in portrait mode, landscape or square?
- Will the shopfront fill the frame?
- Will you stand in front of the shop or to one side?
- Will the whole shopfront be visible in the frame or only part of the shop? You might focus on the lettering, for example.
- Will there be any people within your images?
- Will you photograph your shopfronts in the morning, in the afternoon or early evening once it starts to become dark?
the shop fronts arent in a row i will take pictures of. chickenshops and the school i will frame the pictures in portrait the shop front will fill the frame i will stand to the side of the shop the shop will be visible from the side aslo there wont be anyone in my pictures i will photograph the shops in the early afternoon.
Threshold Concept is when you understand them it changes the way you look at it, they could aslo be used to fit an criteria when. taking pictures.
