01: Objects
Objects have been photographed in order to display visual qualities and to convey ideas. The photographers Edward Weston and Colin Wilson have used careful focus and lighting to produce black and white photographs which emphasise the textural qualities of objects. In his series Colour Still Life Albert Chong produces photographs by making an assemblage of natural and manufactured objects combined with old family documents and photographs. In her project Portraits of My Family Camilla Catrambone photographs collected objects that represent the interests of family members. Investigate relevant sources and produce your own response to Objects.
Initial Thoughts
- Objects can be different shapes and sizes
- Objects can look very different in unusual lighting conditions
- Objects can be photographed with different lenses and cameras
- People sometimes care about objects and at other times are careless with them
My most treasured object
Image Analysis:
The egg is directly on top of the bone and balanced beautifully. An egg is fragile and delicate whereas the bone is hard and strong. The egg could symbolise life (or the beginning of life). We have all come from an egg before we are fertilised. The probability of being born is 1: 400,000,000,000,000. The bone could represent death as it looks like part of a skeleton and when you die you decay and become a skeleton. The light is at the top of the picture which represents life. It is darker at the bottom which may represent death. The composition looks symmetrical and the egg and bone seem stable. There is no danger of the egg toppling off and breaking. Could this suggest therefore that life is balanced on top of death.
Albert Chong

Response: A football photograph
Can a photograph be an object?
I support Arsenal FC. I found this old photo of some Arsenal players on the Internet and printed it out so that it became an object. I projected the photo on the wall in the classroom and used a piece of wood shaped a bit like a photograph to capture some of the details. I added a football stadium soundtrack to the video to make it seem like the viewer was at the ground.

I like the way the video shows different layers of objects - the original photo, me holding the piece of wood and the piece of wood with the photo projected on top. This is a bit like Albert Chong's use of flowers on top of old photographs.
BOOK STACK
Continuing wit the idea of layering, these pictures were an attempt to make a poem out of a stack of books, placing them on top of each other to form a sentence.
Refined Photos
A second attempt to make a book stack poem.
Litter objects
I feel strongly about litter as when I see it it just makes me think of a dirty environment. I would pick up my friends litter if they accidentally did it but not a random person because I don't feel responsible for them. I care deeply about global warming as its getting worse by the second. I learnt this through the news.
when taking these photos i was conscious of the fact that was some litter around me and main motive was to spread awarness as i felt deeply passionate about the cirumstances. i think that, especially in photography, we should make effort to make our art more envioronmental friendly as in the past some form of photography have been damaging or pollutinating.
This selection of images i took from the photos above as they are my favourite image and they are the most successful image that convey my messages.
The photo that contains red jelly was my most successful image that i think the way it appears as a stain on the environment helps to portray how damaging and impactful it is.

My Plan
Firstly take pictures that resprestn stacked objects that you wouldnt normally see . second take pictures and some take pictures with an angle that blur other parts of the objedctand focus on the specific angle. PRINT THEM out and place on a 📚 book that can turn out to be different color b/w orange white different col;oues making it intersting.
