make do & mend
COVID-19 has distracted me from what I love, PHOTOGRAPHY ! I want to step out of my comfort zone and I think photography can help.
Hi my name is Ishaq. I am learning about making do and mending. It can make us very creative and we are working differently to adapt to COVID restrictions. Artist are good at solving problems because they are persistent in all situations. The phrase 'Make Do & Mend' suggests we are all different and we can all push ourselves to be more creative whilst coping with limitations.
Instructions
An instruction is a kind of restriction because you are receiving information from someone else and not making a free choice. Some artists have used instructions in their work. For example,
- Unlock phone
- open camera
- find what you wanna take picture off
- move behind object
- get quite close to the object
- and use natural light
- once you did that tap the take photo X2
- then tap the home button
- turn off your phone
- then put your phone down
I received the following instruction:to take a photo of your nights shoes and place it on your your table.
Take a photograph of your shoe on a table at night
marcel duchamp and the readymade
The 'Mona Lisa' is famous because Marcel Duchamp violated her by putting a man's facial hair on her and saying she has a "hot ass". Duchamp did this to prove that he was better than Leonardo da Vinci. Also, by making new art out of the old he thought that he didn't have to work very hard to be better than him. All he did was draw on a postcard. He was trying to make a point about modern art and he didn't do much to prove it.
Kensuke Koike research
Koike looks to create meaning from an existing object, every image is re-composed and therefore recycled to create a new image with a totally different set of potential interpretations. The artist is more than a collage maker, Koike is as much a video maker, a sculpture, and a puzzle maker. It is almost impossible to categorise such works. These pieces feel like looking at an M.C Escher because of the structured yet impossible nature of the piece.
my readymade Experiments
This is my way off my ready made I spent time on it. I took the challenge and made a readymade I up at first but I got the hang off it persistent is key !!

the beAUTIFUL GIRL
I can see a BMW badge, a woman and a pocket watch and a tyres and a woman with a light bulb head. The BMW because is expensive and I like money. The lines in the picture are mostly curvy and attractive but the woman isn't normal.
The title is very amusing and ironic and it got me wondering. I am not very fond of it because the picture doesn't look attractive me. I would choose the following adjectives to describe the picture: interesting, funny and creative.
I would like to ask the artist:

I would like to ask the artist:
- What was she thinking when making this art?
- how long did it take?
- who/what motivated you
